Trust Board
UHSM has a unitary Board of Directors comprising six Non-Executive Directors (including the Chairman) and five Executive Directors (including the Chief Executive). The Board is ultimately responsible for the corporate affairs of UHSM. The Board is accountable for all aspects of UHSM's activity, including the quality and safety of the services provided, and for the patient experience. The Board sets the strategy for UHSM, ensuring that Executives have clear responsibilities for their operational portfolios. The Board also shapes the culture of the hopital.
The Board meets monthly. Nominated staff representatives and Governors may attend. Every month the Board considers performance, strategy and regulatory items. The Board reports key decisions to the Council of Governors by way of a monthly briefing to them, and more formally at the Council of Governors quarterly meetings. The various Board Committees meet regularly throughout the year to discharge their duties effectively.
