Marathon Exercise Session
One exercise class is probably enough for most people, but Rachel Bold intends to do six hours of exercise classes back-to-back. The sponsored event will take place on January 14 at the Virgin Active Gym, Didsbury. Following her daughter’s birth 12 months ago, Rachel required emergency treatment but now feels fit enough to undertake this very challenging event. Please show your support to Rachel as she attempts to raise funds for the Maternity Unit One in a Million Appeal by donating on her JustGiving page.

UHSM has taken delivery of six beehives to ensure we play our part in ensuring the survival of one of nature’s good guys, and to raise money for our One in a Million maternity appeal.
While the bees are doing their bit by producing honey for the appeal, you can help by adopting one of the bees for a suggested donation of £1.
For more information, go to www.uhsm.nhs.uk/bees, or call Jan Owen on 0161 291 5961.
We are grateful to individuals and groups who undertake fundraising events and sponsored activities to raise funds for the hospital. If you are planning a sponsored walk, parachute jump, head shave, bike ride or even sitting in a bath of baked beans, we would be delighted to hear from you!
You can either raise money for one of our charities (see below), or directly for UHSM's Charitable Fund. Contact our Fundraising team on 0161 291 5961 for more information.
Charities
UHSM is proud to have close links with several different groups. They all make a significant contribution to life at UHSM, whether it be through raising money, giving of time and energy to help our staff, or offering support and advice for patients and visitors. A selection of these are available by clicking the links on the left of the page.
Web Search
UHSM has just signed up to Affilyon, the fundraising web search. If you do your normal web searches through their service, rather than using whatever address you usually use, you will generate money for our maternity and children's services - rather than the revenue going straight to Google or Bing! It's very simple - all you need to do is go to http://sites.affilyon.co.uk/uhsm rather than www.google.co.uk or whatever site you normally type to do internet searches. The results will be exactly the same - the service uses Yahoo search - and each time you use it, you will be contributing to One in a Million and supporting the children & babies in our hospital.
Save the address in your favourites or bookmarks, make sure you use it each time you do a web search, and please forward the address to your friends and relatives - the more searches done through this page, the more money we will raise.
Justgiving
Justgiving's website provides online fundraising tools to enable the easy electronic collection of donations. Justgiving provides its service for over 7,000 UK registered charities and 300,000 fundraising pages for users, collecting over £450 million a year. The administrative function includes the automatic reclaiming of Gift Aid on all donations from UK taxpayers.
Justgiving's stated goal is to 'allow ordinary people to raise extraordinary amounts of money'.
You can set up a page to advertise whatever you are organising to Internet users around the world by going to our page here. This page is also linked to on various pages across the website via the button in the right-hand column.
The courtyard
Market stalls and trade cabins positioned in the UHSM Courtyard raise money for the Trust whilst providing a handy and competitively priced selection of goods for staff, patients and visitors. With a special “Farmers Market” held on the first Friday of the month, it is well worth a visit.
Please contact a member of the Fundraising Team on 0161 291 5961 if you would like further information on trading at UHSM.
Advertising and sponsorship
The Trust has an advertising policy that allows companies and individuals to advertise on Trust premises. We also welcome sponsorship within the hospital. If you would like more information on this, please contact a member of the fundraising team on 0161 291 5961.
