Health Matters - free health talks
Staff, patients and members of the public are invited to attend UHSM's ‘Health Matters’ events, which are talks on health-related topics hosted by our clinical experts.
The talks run from 12–1pm in the Education & Research Centre, with refreshments available from 11.45am, and are open to everyone (no need to book).
15 February: Sleep Apnoea - the sleeping giant
Siddiq Pulakal will be hosting this talk on the subject of sleep apnoea. This disorder is characterised by abnormal pauses in breathing, or instances of abnormally low breathing, during sleep. Sleep apnoea is diagnosed with an overnight test called a polysomnogram, or "sleep study”.
Siddiq will tell the attendees about the dangers of undiagnosed sleep apnoea, and will talk about the latest treatments available to patients in our sleep clinic.
