UHSM launches new Nutrition Support Team

UHSM is proud to announce the launch of its nutrition support team.

The team currently has 3 core members; Michaela Mullally, nutrition specialist nurse, who has recently joined the trust, bringing with her a wealth of experience from 20 years working in critical care; Zoe Pegram, clinical lead dietitian, has joined us from Nottingham where she has been part of an established nutritional support team and Dr Richard Jones who has recently been appointed as consultant Gastroenterologist with a special interest in clinical nutrition.

The team has a remit to provide support to existing clinical services and oversee education on nutritional matters within the trust. The team will take referrals for all patients being considered for parenteral nutrition as well as for patients with complex enteral (tube) feeding issues.

In addition the team will play an educational role to increase understanding of nutritional issues and improve practice in important areas such as the nutritional screening of patients admitted to UHSM.
