Transport buggy purchased for UHSM by charity
“The ongoing generosity the League of Friends has shown to us is just outstanding. They do an incredible amount of good work for the hospital, helping us to buy in equipment and services while at the same time making world-renowned toast and drinks! I would like to say a massive thank you for purchasing this buggy for us. The Admissions Lounge is now up and running which, accompanied by the buggy, will further impact and improve the patient experience here at UHSM.”
Julian Hartley
Chief Executive
UHSM was delighted to receive a patient buggy that was donated by the League of Friends. The buggy will be used to transport patients who are coming in for surgery, picking them up from the newly opened Admissions Lounge and taking them to theatre.
The new arrival was welcomed in by UHSM’s Chief Executive, Julian Hartley, local MP Paul Goggins, Chairman of the League of friends, David Wilson, Brian Kay, who celebrates 40 years service with the League plus other League members and Trust staff.
This summer, the League of Friends, a 100-strong volunteer team, celebrated 55 years working at UHSM where they run two cafes. Over the years they have probably produced enough cups of tea to flood the Manchester Ship Canal and buttered enough toast to fill the Old Trafford stadium.
To date, they have raised over £2 million pounds to help provide services for patients at Wythenshawe Hospital and the patient buggy is their latest contribution to the Trust.
