Communications Team
The Communications team are the first point of contact for all media calls to the hospital or to patients.
We understand the various media deadlines and can usually identify and contact the most appropriate staff member quickly.
We aim to provide a prompt and up-to-date information service to the media.
We also seek positive stories from you, our patients and visitors, to publish in our magazine and on the website, and to send out to the press. You can tell the world about your experiences of UHSM better than we ever could!

For media and other general enquiries, please contact Laura. The press office is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. For out-of-hours enquiries, please call the switchboard on 0161 998 7070, or if it is urgent, call Susan on 07836 229208.

Interviews, filming and photography
The hospital is keen to support requests for media interviews, photography or filming and this must be arranged through the press office. If you would like to film in a general 'hospital environment' for documentaries or dramas, please contact Jan Owen on 0161 291 5961.
Patient confidentiality
We place great emphasis on the need for the strictest confidentiality in respect of our patients. We will not divulge information about a patient unless we are given permission from the individual or their next of kin. All requests for interviewing/photographing patients must be made through the press office.

All our latest news and press releases are available here. Press releases are also distributed by email - if you would like to be added to our e-mail list please email laura.parker@uhsm.nhs.uk.
Major Incidents
In the event of a major incident or other story breaking at the hospital, the Major Incident Plan will be put into operation. A priority of this plan is to provide information to the media as quickly as possible.
