Bronchology

As part of the North West Lung Centre, Bronchology provides a diagnostic service for lung cancer and other bronchial and respiratory diseases.

Treatments include:

Photodynamic therapy – the use of laser treatment together with a systemic sensitiser to selectively kill tumour cells
Stent placement – the use of prosthetic devices to open airways blocked by a tumour
Brachytherapy – administered in collaboration with Christie Hospital, this is the placement of radioactive sources within airways to relieve malignant obstruction and to cure small tumours
