UHSM is located in a suburban area with many parks nearby, so you may find it a pleasant experience to cycle to the hospital. There are bike storage facilities for the public in front of the Outpatients Department, and the Security office overlooks these so your bike will be very secure.

We are the UK's first 'Green Hospital', so we take environmental issues very seriously here at UHSM. We have persuaded staff to leave their cars behind by offering a scheme with free bikes for loan and free showering & changing facilites. This has been very successful, and has even been taken advantage of by our own Chief Executive and several Board members. We hope to extend the scheme to the public in the near future, subject to funding.

Cycling Club

UHSM also runs a Cycling Club, which goes out every Saturday afternoon to locations around Greater Manchester and Cheshire. They are a combination of beginners and long-time cyclists, and all are welcome to join them. To come along, just turn up at UHSM's International House on Saturdays at 1pm. The club is free to join.
