Confidentiality

UHSM takes steps to protect your confidentiality.

Everyone who works in the NHS - staff, nurses and doctors - has a legal duty to keep information about you confidential.

Appropriate steps will be taken to ensure records - both paper and electronic - are held securely and only available to those who have a right to see them.

Patient identifiable information will not be used unless it is absolutely necessary. For uses other than your care all details that could identify you will be removed. However, if this is not possible your permission will be sought.

Only those individuals who need access to patient identifiable information should have access to it, and they should only have access to the information items they need to see.
