We are part of a big community

We are part of a big part of the community, and as a Foundation Trust we are committed to Wythenshawe.

Hiring locally

Over the last twelve months we have tried, wherever possible, to hire locally.

We have growing partnerships with Wythenshawe Forum Learning, Connexions and Job Centre Plus resulting in almost a quarter of our workforce coming from Wythenshawe - an increase from 21% in the last year.

In addition to this our monthly job shop, coupled with pre-employment courses, annual job fair at the Forum, work placements and hosting local business events have helped nearly 80 residents find work here.

Our Private Finance Initiative (PFI) partners, Sodexo and Atkins, are also involved in recruiting from the local community. Their staff levels from Wythenshawe stand at 65% and 22% respectively.

Working with our partners

In 2008 we held two ‘Seeing is Believing’ events to work help employment partners build their understanding of the needs of the local community.

We signed the local employment partnership agreement with Job Centre Plus in May 2008 - as a result of its achievement it was recently named runner up in the Job Centre Plus Awards for Partnership Works.

As a BW3 (Businesses in Wythenshawe) member, we continue to connect with local schools by contributing to the job search skills events for secondary school students.

Working with Schools

Our Staff regularly visit schools and students attend UHSM to explore NHS Careers, and we provide a number of placements for interns through the Manchester Internship Programme for 14-17 year olds.
