On behalf of the University Hospital of South Manchester (UHSM) the Practice Education Facilitators (PEF) Team would like to welcome you to our Trust. As a leading teaching hospital we offer a variety of learning opportunities and we aim to ensure you have a quality clinical placement experience with us.
We work closely with mentors, clinical and practice educators to ensure that all of our students enjoy their time at our hospitals and in the community. If you have any queries or concerns during your placement please do get in contact with us.
When you start your placement with us we want to ensure that you have all the information you need. The PEF team have produced a handbook that will provide you with all you need to know for the commencement of your placement. You may also receive other resources in you placement area.
As well as information about the Trust the handbook provides information about:

The Practice Education Facilitators team
The Practice Education Facilitators (PEFs) are based on the first floor of the Academy in the Education and Research Centre. The role of the PEFs is to ensure the provision of high quality multi-professional learning environments for all our healthcare students across UHSM and to support some placements across the voluntary and private sector.

- Promotion of inter-professional learning opportunities
- Management of placement capacity and capability
- Ensuring provision of mentor updates
- Provision of in-house mentor training programmes
