UHSM continually seeks to improve the quality of care of our patients. We are entering a period of capital development at the Trust with the aim of providing the highest quality treatment, excellent services and real patient benefits. We also have a rolling capital plan that identifies the priorities for enhancement or re-provision of equipment and facilities.
Accident and Emergency (A&E)
We are building a new £12m state-of-the-art A&E which will upgrade current facilities to meet increased patient demand. This will provide additional major and minor injury facilities and two additional resuscitation bays, bringing the total to eight. We will be capable of seeing at least 120,000 attendees annually.
MediPark will be one of Manchester’s health and life science parks, combining research and development with integrated health and social care. It will offer close access to hospital services and include technology-enabled, supported-living housing, intermediate care facilities and high technology businesses.
We are planning to redevelop the Wythenshawe Hospital Campus courtyard area in 2016/17. This will improve the facilities available for staff, patients, families and carers.
