Interpretation and Translation Service

We work with our own team of interpreters, as well as a number of partner agencies, to provide face to face interpreters. We also arrange telephone interpreting and translation. Our interpreters go through strict recruitment procedures, are trained professionals, and follow a code of practice and observe strict confidentiality. The Trust has an Interpreting Policy to govern how and when interpretation services are accessed.

We also operate a telephone translation system called ‘Big Word’.

How can I access the service?

If you require an interpreter booking for a hospital appointment then you must arrange it through the hospital department or service you are visiting.  We only accept bookings from authorised staff members.  Unfortunately we cannot take bookings directly.  Interpreters are available 24 hours, seven days a week for in-patients, out-patients and within community services.
